A family was left heartbroken after a Florida police officer fatally shot their dogin the head after she ran out of the front door while he was conducting a routine house check.
Owner Gillian Palacios says her 40-pound bull terrier Duchess was shot three times in the head even though she was not barking or being aggressive.
Palacios told Fox that the officer knocked on her door Tuesday morning to inform her that her car door was let open.
When she opened the door, the dog ran outside. Surveillance cameras captured the moment the officer opened fire on Duchess.
